Returning Your CCTV

Before you return your CCTV you should call us at 1-866-642-2887 or 1-866-6 4 CCTVs so we can work with you to determine if there is anything we can do to help you over the phone. Most of our service calls can be resolved over the phone. We have over thirteen years experience in taking service calls.

Here are some of the things you should check first before calling. Does the CCTV have power. Is the power cord plugged into an outlet that works. Some houses have the top outlet connected to the wall switch. When this is the case the light switch on the wall by the door may be turned off and this could be the problem. Try moving the plug and putting it into an outlet you know works.

Next make sure that all the cords are properly connected. There are two cords connected to the monitor. The power cord and the video cord. Check these cords to make sure they have a tight fit. The camera's power cord may have come loose, check it. Should all the cords check out and you still have a problem then proceed to the next section.

There are two light bulbs under the top part of the camera. These need to be replaced every now and then. You can call us to buy replacement bulbs. It is possible to use your CCTV while the bulbs are burned out and you are waiting for replacement bulbs. Just take a table lamp and position it beside the CCTV so that the light shines on the table that holds your reading material. The bulbs are easily replaced. You do not need any tools. The bulbs are pulled out of their sockets. Take your thumb and index finger, grab the bulb and pull it toward the front of the camera. Once the bulb is free from the socket then pull it down slightly so that it comes out of the lamp housing. Replacing the bulbs is done in the reverse manner.

The call we get most often is the one where the monitor has gotten into the TV mode. Normally the monitor is in the video mode. It is quite common to have the monitor accidentally and inadvertently switched into the TV mode. This can happen because the buttons on the front of the JVC monitor we use are easily pressed. Should one of these buttons get bumped then it is possible that the monitor is looking for a TV signal and not the signal from the camera. Should this happen the solution is to use the remote control that comes with the JVC monitor to reset the monitor to video mode. Fortunately we anticipate this service issue and mark the remote control video button with a label that says "video". Simply point the remote control at the front of the monitor and press the "video" button. This should reset the input to video mode. If you don't have the remote control the the menu function control can be used to reselect the video by highlighting the input option in the menu then changing the mode from TV to video.

There are two power switches on the CCTV. When you first get your CCTV the first time you may need to turn the monitor on as well as the camera. Since the monitor is plugged into the camera the monitor should come on when the camera is turned on. If the monitor does not come on when the camera is turned on you need to check the monitor on / off button. It is located on the lower right hand corner of the front of the JVC monitor. Press it and see if it comes on. You will know if the camera is on by observing the lights underneath. If they are not burned out and they come on when the camera is powered on then the monitor should come on as well, unless of course the monitor is turned off.

If all of this fails to correct your problem, you have called us and we have determined that the CCTV actually needs repair. You can send it into MagniSight for repair. You will need to call them first at 1-800-753-4767 for a return authorization number (RA#). Once you have the RA# then you can package the camera and / or monitor in their original containers using the original packing materials. You should insure the contents and use UPS as the freight company. If the CCTV is still under warranty (it has a two year warranty) then MagniSight will pay the return freight. Otherwise you will be billed for the return freight and the repair. It usually takes about two weeks to get your CCTV repaired and returned to you. We know how important your CCTV is to you and we do not waste any time with the repair. We have tried to have regional repair centers but they are always slower and cost more than doing it at MagniSight. They are also not as competent as MagniSight because they rarely see this type of equipment whereas MagniSight makes the CCTVs. MagniSight has all the parts and a trained staff to repair your CCTV. Repairs done under warranty by MagniSight are warranted for the rest of the original warranty period.
