Demonstration Information
Positive Text Mode - 50X
The interactive CCTV demonstration is a Flash 6 document.
If you already have the Free Flash 6 Player on your computer then
you may proceed without interruption. How ever, if you don't,
then you will be asked to download it when you enter the Flash
CCTV Demo Section. To enter the interactive demonstration section
click here, or use the Button Links
on the Left Navigation Bar. Before you go to the demo
please read the following instructions first.
Please follow these instruction to activate the interactive demonstration.
Once you are on the demonstration page take your mouse and click on the text.
This click will turn on the demonstration. Once the demonstration
is turned on you may use the up - down - left - right keys on
your key board. These keys are just to the right of your right
hand. They are marked with arrows. The keys will move the text.
To read the text you must move it to the left so you must use the left
arrow key. Tap it to move the text. When you get to the end of the first line of text you
will want to return to the left margin by moving the text to the
right. In this case you may push and hold the right arrow button and the text will move to the right more rapidly.
To move the text up a line, tap the up arrow button. To move
the text down a line, tap the down arrow button.
It may help you to think that you are moving the text under
a magnifier. This is very similar to using a CCTV because
when you own a Reliant CCTV you will be moving the text under
your new CCTV magnifier with you hand. Since this is only a simulation
there are some obvious differences between the demonstration and
how a CCTV actually works. We have designed this demonstration
to be as close to using a real CCTV as possible.
The text at the top of this page is typical of any of my CCTVs.
This example would represent a magnification of approximately
50X. Someone with macular degeneration effected vision that measured
about 20/500 should be able to read and write using a CCTV at
this level of magnification.
I recommend that you start with the 50X and work you way down
in size to a point of limited return. You are assessing if
magnification will make is it possible to read again. You will
also assess how much magnification is necessary so that you can
purchase the most appropriate CCTV that will make it possible
for you to read again. You may also assess if Custom
Color or Negative Mode options are personally
significant.
Please take your time. This may seem slow and complicated
compared to the way you use to read. How ever, as an alternative
to not reading at all, using a CCTV may make a significant difference
in you quality of life. Using a CCTV is actually easier than performing
this demonstration. Try to consider this more of an opportunity
to assess how well magnification works for you. If it does, then
you will know that should you purchase a CCTV, it too, will work
for you. Only your new CCTV will magnify and show you anything
you place under the CCTV camera. Once you have your new CCTV for
a week or so you may be able to read at a speed that approximates
reading aloud.
All my CCTVs have variable levels of magnification, so all of
them can either magnify more or less depending on ones needs.
For a personal assessment please call me. Remember, most seniors
should use clip-on lenses and their glasses
when viewing a CCTV.
